Does Every American Go Through An Abe Lincoln Phase?

Over the past year or so, I have been geeking-out and listening to a lot of Abraham Lincoln lectures and podcast interviews with prominent authors who are on book tours promoting their latest work on the former president.

Is this a normal phenomenon or should I be worried because I might be going down some weird rabbit hole? Thankfully I stay away from YouTube so I’m not burdened by some crazy algo choosing what I consume.

Whatever the case, I feel like I’m slowly inching toward a few books—possibly a couple biographies and another works about the general time period. I normally go from book to book by finding and reading bibliographic sources inside books I’m currently reading.

I know there must be some famous works out there, so please comment below with your favorite Abe or Civil War book. The trouble with this topic is perspective and that makes finding the right books a bit tricky. Perspective is weighed down by a number of heavy variables such as who is writing the book, when are they writing it, what years are being covered, etc. These variables help create distinct narratives about the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln, in particular. Sadly, the only way to get the truest picture is to read two or three of these works and let your brain average them out.
